01 // THE QUESTION

"WHAT IS THE DESIGNER'S ROLE IN THE AGE OF AI?"

This was the question posed by my mentor from Takram. In a world where Midjourney can generate 'light' in seconds, what is the value of physical creation?

当 AI 可以瞬间生成无数张绝美的光影图片时,设计师的双手还有什么意义?这是我在课程开始时面临的最大命题。

My answer is "Material Intimacy". AI understands pixels, but it doesn't understand the chaotic reflection of tin foil, or the warmth of wood grain. I chose to build a "Water Caustic" effect using the most analog materials possible.

01 Sketching

LOGIC OF FLOW

Designing the S-curve "Meandering Water" shape on iPad. Calculating the optimal path for LED strips.

02 Woodworking

PHYSICALITY

CNC & Hand Sanding. Giving the rigid wood a fluid, organic form.

03 Material Test

MATERIAL HACKING

The secret sauce: Tin Foil + Plastic Sheet. Crinkling the foil to create random, chaotic reflective surfaces that mimic deep water.

04 Final Assembly

LUMINOUS ABYSS

Final Installation. The light penetrates the "fog", creating a dynamic interaction on the wall.

02 // THE REFLECTION

"EN" (渊) represents depth. Not just the depth of water, but the depth of time spent polishing a physical object.

Through this project, I realized that while AI accelerates Logic, only human touch creates Soul. The unpredictability of the tin foil reflection IS the design.
