COURSE 07 // MURAKOSHI STUDIO

FLIP &
FORM

THEME: AFFORDANCE & REPAIRABILITY
A modular furniture system where Orientation defines Function.
Designed to be intuitively understood, easily repaired, and infinitely expanded.
AFFORDANCE MODES
I

VERTICAL

Shelf + Chair
When standing upright, the structure affords sitting or displaying items. The flat surfaces naturally invite interaction at different heights.

__

HORIZONTAL

Stable Table
By flipping the module 90 degrees, the extended surface transforms into a low table. The form itself signals stability and utility.

+++

CLUSTER

Expansion
Multiple modules interlock to create long tables, storage walls, or group seating. Adapts to rented spaces or event halls.

SUSTAINABLE CYCLE

In line with the "Repairable Furniture" theme, every component is designed for Disassembly.

If a leg breaks or a surface is scratched, you don't throw away the chair. You simply replace that specific module. The visible joints act as a "Repair Manual", inviting users to maintain the object over time.

NO GLUE.
NO HIDDEN SCREWS.
JUST PURE LOGIC.
Final Transformable Furniture

THE ARTIFACT.

This is a response to the rigidity of modern furniture.

By observing the "Affordance" of daily life, I created a form that changes with the user's needs. From a single chair in a small rental room to a long table in a community hall.

It is not just a tool; it is a system of living.
